Field Engineer

Job Description Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and co-ordinate activities with the client, subcontractors & other consultants.
  2. Prepare change & tender documents.
  3. Prepare contract documents with the desired scope of work for Project Managers review.
  4. Assist in the management of all aspects of the project.
  5. Assist the project team with the initial mobilization and setup of the construction site.
  6. Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
  7. Ensure the efficient use of labour, machines and materials used by the crew.
  8. Equipment tracking, monitor performance, provide feedback to the Project Manager.
  9. Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems.
  10. Manage all project administration activities including payroll, timekeeping, labour coding, equipment coding, purchase-order coding and safety reporting.
  11. Establish effective on-site communications and progress reporting with subtrades and clients.
  12. Ensure compliance with Chandos health and safety training and reporting requirements.
  13. Review construction plans for compliance with all applicable codes, regulations and ordinances such as plumbing, mechanical, electrical, structural.
  14. Perform periodic field inspections of projects both prior to and during construction to determine compliance with approved plans and regulations at the request of inspectors.
  15. Co-ordinate the permit process as assigned, including the front-counter activities as well as reviewing permit applications and permits for accuracy.
  16. Prepare and maintain required records and written reports.
  17. Read, interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications, AHJ codes and ordinances regarding building codes, permit issuance and permit fees.
  18. Track and review project proposals of change and change orders.
  19. Perform other duties that may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications

Qualifications: Current Engineering Co-op Student - Civil discipline is preferred
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail
Ability: Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Software: Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Notes

Travel to site and off-site locations is required.
Personal vehicle required.
Personal protective equipment is required (e.g. steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
Will work both indoors and outdoors.
Will be exposed to conditions of the construction site
