Main Accountabilities

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Superintendent, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will play a key role in implementing our Baffinland Operating System (BOS). They will use continuous improvement methodologies to identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives across all departments at Baffinland Iron Mines. The specialist will use data to develop operational insights. This information will then be communicated to senior management and leadership teams to support comprehensive decision-making, process changes, and cost saving initiatives.

• Lead and influence personnel at multiple levels to improve operational processes that ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitability, drive quality improvements and reduce operating costs. • Drive continuous improvement by conducting a thorough analysis of data and environment.• Implement effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement tracking.• Support improvement in existing processes including eliminating variation and non-value added work.• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, and confidentiality.• Train/coach/mentor other employees on the principles of Continuous Improvement.• Perform on-site implementation of CI project (SMED, 5S, SIPOC, Audit, BPM, etc).• Proficient in leading problem sessions & business process mapping, (Fish bone, 5 Why`s, FMEA, etc).• Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Main Qualifications

• Engineering, bachelor of commerce, BA, MBA• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Continuous Improvement, • 5-10 years of experience in mining, petroleum, manufacturing or any heavy industry• Formal training in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt minimum certified, with proven track record of application.
