Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for aiding in communications and marketing for the special community programs and events that are hosted by the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. General tasks for this position may include:

- develop close communication, both internally and externally, with our program/course instructors and event personnel using the various communication methods (phone, email, in-person)

- communicate and work with potential individuals and/or organizations/partners that may be interested in collaborating with the Centre

- develop a long-standing relationship with clients/partners of the Centre

- work closely with the chief administrator and the rest of the team to complete important tasks and other projects where additional assistance may be required

- be in charge of marketing for the Centre’s programs and events by creating posters and advertisements and managing our social media

The successful candidate may also be responsible for providing general administrative support as needed which includes, but is not limited to the areas of reception, programs, and communications.

General front desk and daily administrative duties include opening the Centre following our opening procedure, handling phone calls, daily transactions, and customer inquiries, performing general daily tasks, and observing daily operational duties to provide suggestions or improvements to management when necessary.

Qualification

  • Client service - Client Service refers to the ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with clients. At work, client service skills are required to interact with clients on behalf of the employer.

  • Communication - Communication refers to the skills needed to exchange thoughts and information with other people. This exchange can happen orally by speaking, listening and using non-verbal cues, such as body language or in writing. At work, people use communication skills to talk to customers, discuss products with suppliers, explain work procedures to co-workers, participate in virtual sales meetings with clients, and other activities that involve verbal or written exchanges.
  • Digital skills - Digital technology refers to the skills needed to understand and use digital systems, tools and applications, and to process digital information. At work, people use digital technology skills to input, access, analyze, organize, create and communication information and ideas using computers, software, point-of-sale
  • Leadership - Leadership refers to a number of skills, including communication, relationship building, and the ability to delegate and traits such as honesty. At work, leadership skills are required when working in a team, demonstrating initiative, and taking responsibility for the completion of tasks that require multiple employees.
  • Must be aged under 30 and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • International students are not eligible.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed
