Job Responsibilities
(Internal Title: Stakeholder and Communications Lead)
Assist with establishing internal communications strategies in conjunction with senior managers
Collaborate with project stakeholders to gather information, draft communications materials, and ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and messaging priorities
Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
Create engaging written content for various platforms, including newsletters, emails, intranet articles, and others, to convey project updates, milestones, and important information effectively
Keep clients abreast of progress and answer their questions
Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team of art directors and designers
Use social media to communicate with staff internally
Assist with and deliver presentations at organizational events
Draft messages or scripts for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts using metrics and feedback mechanisms, refining strategies as needed to optimize engagement and impact
Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
Handle the internal communication response to crises that affect organizational perception and reputation
Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face-to-face or through regular written communication
Provide training and support to project team members on effective communication techniques, including message delivery, and crisis communication strategies
Own the day-to-day delivery of Stakeholder Engagement services on assigned low to medium-complexity project component
Contribute to the day-to-day delivery of Stakeholder Engagement services on assigned projects on a high-complexity project component including the review of drafts and completion of copy for specific campaigns and programs
Support Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communication or higher in the planning of public engagements
Classify input from various disciplines into engagement and strategic communication initiatives
Strategize with organizational leaders in the planning communication efforts for stakeholder meetings and events and coordinate the implementation
Prepare the outline of communication campaigns
Draft full communication plans for review and approval based on the direction from the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communication or higher
Align work with communication program goals to ensure measurable objectives and support Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Coordinator in the same
Liaise with contractors and clients to identify project activities that will require communication with stakeholders and the public at large
Conduct independent research in support of the specific stakeholder engagement and community relations program as indicated by objectives and as directed by the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication or higher
Issue responses to public inquiries about the project, with input from the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication, or higher
Review and track issues that may affect the company or project and escalate if required
Communicate with and, where applicable, connect with key ‘influencers’ in media related to the project
Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization and in the broader Strategic Communications field to assist with the development of engagement and communication material
Recommend and implement changes to enhance stakeholder relations and community engagement
Engage in and establish best practices of community engagement and stakeholder relations as directed
Develop content and draft, and edit newsletter and website content
Monitor, audit, and mitigate issues that may impact programs and provide support on the same for Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Coordinator
Complete any tasks assigned by the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communications or higher in an efficient and timely manner
Qualifications Required
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Strategic Communications or similar
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Infrastructure Project Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
Licenses OR Certifications:
Registered for and actively seeking recognized certification and membership in related associations
Skills and Competencies:
Thorough understanding and implementation of various research methods
Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
Strong people skills and confidence to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Tailor technical information for different audiences through presentations, reports, and other means
Possess a well-organized approach to task or project management
