Position Summary:

The Grant Accountant provides support for all grants, including federal grants, and oversees grant activities including implementation, budgeting, cost tracing, reporting and managing audits. Ensures that the organization maintains a strong and accurate recordkeeping and meets compliance requirements in conjunction with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.

Essential Functions:

Manages all federal, state, local and private grants for the organization. This includes reviewing funder regulations and reporting requirements, as well as preparing budgets and developing processes for grant reporting and tracking costs.

Manages the grant accounting functions for programmatic SB40 grant budgets and reporting.

Participates in all pre- and post-award grant processes. Reviews prospective grants and provides details on requirements related to the grants.

Provides monthly reports, analysis and reconciliations including explanations and recommendations for variances from budgets. Works with program staff to ensure that grant reporting is understood and managed appropriately.

Reviews transactions for compliance with applicable grant and contract terms. Ensures transactions comply with internal policies and procedures.
Coordinates and manages A-133 Single Audits. Identifies and prepares resources needed for audits.

Develops and maintains processes and procedures related to grants and other funding sources. Ensures compliance with internal and external requirements and communicates across departments as needed.
Supports accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting, etc.

Position Competencies:

Knowledge of fund-based accounting systems.
Knowledge of A-133 Single Audit requirements.
Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner as well as provide alternative solutions. Strong analytical skills to collect and research data and perform analysis on information.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook and able to utilize accounting systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business.
At least one year of experience in non-profit accounting.
At least one year working with grant reporting, specifically federal grant reporting.
Experience using Microsoft Office suite and intermediate-level knowledge of Excel required.

Additional Requirements:

Must have current driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Must complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications.
Must maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment.
This job utilizes office equipment and computer/electronic devices.
