Please be advised that a Print/Finishing Production Technician position is available for 8 weeks, with an initial work assignment in Edmonton within the Mailroom and Print Services department.
The Mailroom/Print Services Technician works under the functional direction of the Mailroom Lead-hand to provide high quality reproduction and mail service to the organization as a whole. The ability to work with various graphic design and layout software applications commonly used on Mac’s and PC’s.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software packages (specifically Adobe Acrobat Pro) and Microsoft Word.
A thorough understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from different operating systems (Mac and PC).
The ability to output digital files to various output devices like RIP on CTP system and to the front end of digital presses.
Required to produce digital proofs for approval prior to press run.
Previous: One (1) year experience in a prepress, print production, or bindery environment. Knowledge using a web to print solution and prepress operating systems, would be considered an asset.
On the Job: Nine (9) months on the job to become familiar with the office equipment, procedures, computer system(s), related programs/software, and AUPE policies and procedures.
Prepares electronic files for printing on high-speed digital equipment.
Sets the imposition of files by using makeready software—assembling pages in the right format and order for printing.
Examine digital files carefully to anticipate and correct any problems that could prevent the document from printing as expected.
Any revisions of the document must be approved by the Executive Director.
