Our mineral exploration efforts focus on copper as well as other metals including nickel, vanadium, cobalt, platinum group elements, gold, and silver. Through the advancement of our portfolio, headlined by the Santa Cruz Copper Project in Arizona, we intend to support United States supply chain independence by finding and delivering the critical metals necessary for the electrification of the economy. We also operate a 50/50 joint venture with Saudi Arabian Mining Company Ma’aden to explore for minerals on ~48,500 km of underexplored Arabian Shield in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Website: SummaryReporting to the Director New Opportunities, this role will primarily focus on the compilation and organization of GIS data into structured workspaces to facilitate data leveraging and project evaluations required to optimize Ivanhoe Electric's mineral exploration portfolio. This role will be based out of the Ivanhoe Electric office in either Vancouver, Canada, or Tempe, Arizona. Core ResponsibilitiesGIS Data Compilation and Organization:Collect, compile, and organize GIS data from various sources to create comprehensive and structured datasets.Ensure data integrity and accuracy through verification and validation processes.Develop standardized workflows and protocols for data management to streamline operations.Digitization and Georeferencing:Digitize geospatial features from scanned documents, aerial imagery, and other sources for data interrogation and interpretation.Perform georeferencing tasks to align non-georeferenced data with real-world coordinates, ensuring spatial accuracy.Workspace Development: Create and maintain organized GIS workspaces tailored to specific project requirements, enabling efficient data exploration and analysis by team members.Map Generation and Visualization:Generate maps and spatial visualizations to communicate complex geological information effectively.Customize map layouts and symbology to meet project-specific requirements and stakeholder preferences.Produce high-quality cartographic outputs for presentations, reports, and decision-making processes.Collaboration and Team Support:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fulfill project requirements.Participate in team meetings, discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to learn and contribute insights and ideas. Ensure project compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.Maintain a safety culture within the team.Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.Perform other related functions as assigned by the senior management team.Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Geology or equivalent required.Proficiency in GIS software applications, particularly Esri ArcGIS Pro, for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.Knowledgeable in geological mapping, digitization of geological maps, and use of GIS and 3D modelling software (ArcPro, and other GIS desktop, cloud, and field collection software, Leapfrog and Geoscience Analyst).Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn various mobile and desktop-based applications.Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on data accuracy and quality assurance.Capable of creative thinking and effective communication in a collaborative team environment.Preferred Skills and Experience:Fundamental understanding of mineral systems and ore forming processes.Familiarity with remote sensing techniques and imagery analysis including hyperspectral data.Basic understanding of geophysical surveying (magnetic, gravity, EM and IP) and data interpretation as they relate to mineral systems considered an asset.Experience working with relational databases and SQL for data management.3D geologic modelling with Leapfrog.Certification or training in GIS applications preferred.Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming experience an asset.Additional Expectations:Ability to understand and implement industry best practices and technological processes for handling of key exploration data including geological mapping, surface sampling, drill data, and cadastral elements.Capable of operating independently and safely with a small team while solving problems.Strong organizational, verbal, and technical writing skills.Diversity Statements:Ivanhoe Electric is an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of a diverse workforce.
