Our client is currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to join their team based in Dieppe, NB. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Health & Safety Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and company standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Educating employees and managers on best practices in occupational health and safety.
  2. Coordinating the implementation of policies and procedures.
  3. Ensuring compliance with MPI standards and occupational health and safety laws.
  4. Conducting investigations related to incidents, tracking safety KPIs, analyzing information, and preparing statistics for key performance indicators.
  5. Coordinating the activities of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  6. Working with all relevant parties to ensure fair and timely processing of claims and successful return to work.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a certified Occupational Health and Safety designation, such as CRSP, CHSC, CHSE, or equivalent, and/or 2 to 5 years’ experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field. Experience in conducting Incident Investigations, Hazard Assessments, developing SOPs, and Safety Training Programs would be considered an asset. Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in using Microsoft products and online SDS management systems and incident reporting and tracking systems. Experience in an agricultural or manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
