The General Surgeon is a vital member of the Vitalité Health Network team, responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to patients of all ages. Reporting to the Head of the Local General Surgery Division and the Medical Director for the sector, the General Surgeon evaluates urgent and non-urgent clinical situations, makes diagnoses, and determines treatment options.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluates patients' perioperative care and manages their surgical needs
- Performs open and minimally invasive surgical procedures, including upper and lower digestive endoscopies
- Provides non-surgical treatments, such as preventive and therapeutic interventions
- Directs trauma teams and performs primary and secondary patient assessments in a trauma context
- Collaborates with specialist physicians and other health professionals to deliver multidisciplinary care
- Degree from a recognized medical school and residency leading to licensure in general surgery
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick
- Active member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association
- Member of the New Brunswick Medical Society
- Registration with New Brunswick Medicare
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform assigned work
- Good work history (performance and attendance)
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values
