We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a Safety Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. You will be managing the company health, safety, and environmental program, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.

This is a critical role at Cam Industrial, as safety is our top priority. You will work directly with our business partners, vendors, and employees, working individually and as a part of a project team. Salary will be based on the successful applicants experience.

Education

NCSO or CRSP designation

Responsibilities
  • Encourage a positive safe environment on sites while adhering to Cam Industrial’s HSE program, and OH&S requirements.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and effectively. Ensure oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies are followed.
  • Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S requirements.
  • Ensure COR obligations are met, complete internal COR audits, and provide documentation and assistance for external COR audits.
  • Manage site orientations, track all workers and/or visitors.
  • Work with PM and SS to ensure site specific plans, safety board and signs are in place.
  • Carry out weekly site safety inspections; document and distribute reports.
  • Monitor and track compliance of safety procedures and policies.
  • Educate workers on safety standards and best practices, therefore staying informed on recent, relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Lead incident responses, reporting, root cause determinations, and all investigation activities.
  • Conduct weekly Toolbox meetings for site staff.
  • Review all submitted safety documentation (ex: FLHA, equipment inspections, vehicle inspections).
  • Coordinate the joint health & safety committee on projects and manage all records.
  • Chair company JHSC and maintain minutes.
  • Run quarterly company safety meetings.
  • Communicate safety requirements on site, be a champion of OH&S.
  • Participate and document site inspections, ensure compliance and corrective actions are completed.
  • Track and report safety statistics.
  • Travel to be expected.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Qualify third party subcontractors.
  • Manage WCB claims and modified work program as necessary.
  • Develop safety initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
  • NCSO or CRSP designation with 5+ years of related experience in the construction industry.
  • Must be familiar with construction terminology.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, hazard recognition, record keeping and injury investigation.
  • In depth knowledge of OHS legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of locations across Canada, including isolated areas requiring camp accommodations.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and other individually or in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for safety excellence and taking initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with high expectations.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as business requires.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
