Sonroc is a consulting firm, in conjunction with Sonroc Engineering, that excels in providing complete building design coordination across all disciplines. Spanning industry sectors from industrial to commercial to residential and institutional, we have had the privilege of being involved in everything from churches and schools to mixed-use buildings and high-rises to full-scale commercial developments.

We are currently searching for a talented individual to fill the Mechanical Engineering Technologist role within our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be a highly qualified person able to assist in coordinating projects with the project team from conceptual design through project completion. This could include consultation meetings with clients, consultant coordination, and project communication while at the same time helping to maintain and direct the focus of the design team to ensure specific timelines are met on multiple projects.

Prepare design, tender, and working drawings using computer-aided design (Revit, AutoCAD).
Work with clients and the design team to ensure the project vision is adhered to as much as possible while respecting required timelines and budget.
Conducting research and collating data
Energy modeling, heat, cooling, and detailed calculations.
Coordinate with architectural and other consultants to ensure potential conflicts are resolved.
Work on multiple projects concurrently.
Observe and understand existing mechanical systems and provide suggestions for improvements.
Provide support for site meetings and inspections and contract administration as required.
 
Minimum of Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Technology
~3+ years of registered experience with commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and multi-family projects.
~ Good knowledge of and hands-on experience utilizing AutoCAD and Revit.
~ Strong knowledge of and experience with building codes and specifications.
~ Dental and extended health benefits.
Office closure between Christmas and New Year’s (but still get paid for the week).
