Reporting to the Regional Copper CFO, this role is responsible for ensuring financial governance, risk management and controls implementation across the finance functions across the region. This position is responsible for reviewing and maintenance of Risk and Control Matrixes (RACM) in line with UKCR requirements, including training, reporting and recommendations on relevant controls. Additionally, the role entails reviewing finance processes to ensure they are both adequate and equipped with efficient controls. More specifically, you will be tasked with:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls Risk and Control Matrixes (RACM) in line with UKCR requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Continuously assess and monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and make recommendations for improvements.
- Conduct periodic internal control testing within the Copper business unit to identify weaknesses and areas of improvement. Develop and execute remediation plans to address deficiencies.
- Oversee the certification process for financial controls within the region, ensuring adherence to internal and external requirements.
- Review financial processes and procedures to evaluate their adequacy, efficiency, and effectiveness in safeguarding the organization's financial assets.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of control processes, testing results, and remediation efforts.
- Provide training and awareness programs to staff members to promote a culture of financial control and governance.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders regarding the status of internal controls and financial governance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field. CPA designation is a plus.
- Proven experience in financial governance, internal control, or audit roles, with a minimum of 7 years in a managerial position.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- An understanding of risk management and compliance.
