Service Executive – Director of Finance Shangri-La Toronto, a premier hotel located in the heart of the city, seeks a Service Executive – Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations, including planning, budgeting, analysis, accounting, and reporting. Direct receivables, payables, credit, payroll and cash handling functions, ensuring compliance with corporate and hotel policy, procedures, and government regulations. Manage finance team, recruit, coach, train, motivate, and provide performance feedback to ensure excellence. Analyze financial data and prepare operational reports, variance explanations, and recommendations to achieve business goals, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements. Develop, implement, and enforce controls for revenue, expenses, asset protection, inventory, credit, collections, bank reconciliation, and point‑of‑sale controls. Maximize cash flow performance of the hotel. Create the annual budget, providing financial expertise to departmental managers, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, and submitting final documentation. Perform asset management duties: control tenant leases, insurance policies, service contracts, capital purchases, and maintain accurate files. Advise the executive team and department heads on financial matters. Schedule and coordinate internal audits. Drives results and strives for excellence in the finance department. Demonstrates expertise in accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cash management, reporting, legislation, payroll, payables, receivables, inventory, and asset management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare policies and technical correspondence. Approachable to colleagues, managers, and executives. Proficient with Windows‑based accounting programs and online commercial banking. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent; Minimum 2 years as Assistant Controller (or equivalent) and 4–8 years of experience in a similar capacity at an international world‑class hotel brand.
