About the role

The Senior Architect role at our company is not just about building database solutions; it's about leading the development of an integrated platform that solves complex data challenges. You will be pivotal in designing and implementing scalable solutions that enhance our database capabilities while also improving our project management and data capture tools. This role requires a versatile skill set, including strong proficiency in Java, React, and other relevant technologies and a willingness to tackle various challenges and interesting problems to help scientists move forward with discovery. More critically, however, a deep understanding that there is no-one on the team more important than the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and enhance the architecture of our SaaS platform, focusing on scalability, performance, and integration of database solutions with project management and multi-modal data capture functionalities.
  • Develop high-quality code ensuring a seamless and dynamic user experience.
  • Optimize database and application infrastructure for high efficiency and future growth.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to ensure features meet business needs and are delivered to high-quality standards.
  • Spearhead the adoption of new technologies and frameworks, balancing current needs with future opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
  • Strong focus on meeting deliverables and adhering to due dates to maintain forward momentum and ensure project milestones are met on schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with extensive expertise in database architecture and application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and React, with a solid understanding of SQL and modern database technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architectures.
  • Proven ability in project management and the implementation of data capture tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to apply them in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
