FTE: 0.20 Part Time

Start Date: August 22, 2023

Closing Date: April 21, 2023

Job Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:

  1. Bachelor of Education
  2. Knowledge and experience with Environmental Education
  3. Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders: teachers, students, administration, trustees, CUPE staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community agencies, environmental support organizations, and funders
  4. Strong motivational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to ensure positive relationships with stakeholders
  5. Ability to travel throughout the Fort McMurray region
  6. Working with Green Scene to determine ongoing goals and action plans for both Green Scene and the Environmental Lead Teacher's role
  7. Working with FMPSD schools mentoring teachers on how to embed Environmental Education within the curriculum they teach
  8. Facilitate Environmental Education sessions with classes and groups of students
  9. Mentor school Environment Facilitators and champions to form school environmental committees, including administrators, parents, staff, students, and community members
  10. Help them create, implement, and revise yearly their school’s environmental action plan
  11. Mentor school Environment Facilitators and champions in coordinating school-wide Environmental Education projects and events
  12. Research and share teaching resources, environmental activities, and grant possibilities with teachers and schools
  13. Help develop a database of resources and lessons that support Environmental Education in FMPSD
  14. Working with FMPS Division - plan Environmental Education and Action professional development and awareness sessions
  15. Work with the Board and administration to review and develop FMPSD Environmental practices and goals
  16. Administration - Apply for funding for the continuance of the position
  17. Complete personnel timesheets and expense claims as required
