About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Technician, Loading to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.
This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.
The Technician, Loading is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner within an open-pit mining environment. The role requires proficiency in operating large-scale loading equipment such as 7495 Electric Shovel, PC4000 Excavator, 994 Wheel Loader & 395 Excavator, along with other heavy machinery. The technician will support production targets while maintaining equipment integrity and adhering to safety and environmental standards.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
Equipment Operation & Production
- Operate 7495 Electric Shovel, PC4000 Excavator, 994 Wheel Loader & 395 Excavator.
- Operate various heavy equipment including haul trucks (CAT 740, 777, 789, 793), dozers, and graders.
- Assist with the operational integrity of the Mining department to meet safety, environmental, quality, cost, and production targets.
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports.
- Report unsafe mechanical conditions to the shop foreman and supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment and in work areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow established traffic patterns and avoid road hazards and other hazardous conditions.
- Actively participate in safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to solve problems and improve operational efficiency.
- Perform additional related duties as requested and assigned.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
Certifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Experience
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Prior experience in an open-pit mining environment.
- Proven record of excellent attendance and reliability.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in operating:
- CAT 988 & 994 loaders
- CAT 390 & PC4000 excavators
- 7495 electric shovels
- Haul trucks (CAT 740, 777, 789, 793)
- Other heavy machinery (dozers, graders, etc.)
- Ability to perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections and complete equipment reports.
- Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and mechanical condition reporting.
- Ability to safely climb and access equipment.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
