What You’ll Do

We're looking for an analytical, process-oriented engineer to help strengthen how Vention's automation applications and components are validated, investigated, and continuously improved. Working alongside a team of engineers and designers, you'll play a key role in making sure all products go through rigorous design validation and product testing. They will ensure designs perform as intended, deepening our understanding of how they behave, and turning those insights into better engineering standards and testing processes. This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role: you'll partner with Design Engineering, Integration, Production, Procurement, and Reliability to evaluate design changes, drive structured problem-solving, and raise the bar on how our products are engineered and tested. A background in electrical engineering with some exposure to programming is a strong asset, but what matters most is a sharp analytical mind, genuine curiosity, and the collaborative instinct to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the team to make great products even better.

  • Lead investigations & root cause analysis: Investigate field returns, production escapes, and system failures across automation applications and components, driving structured RCA (5-Whys, fishbone, fault-tree) to find the true root cause - not just the symptom.
  • Troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems: Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and firmware issues across integrated automation cells, from wiring and safety circuits to controller and software behavior.
  • Own change management: Raise, evaluate, and drive ECNs/ECOs through approval, working with Design Engineering to ensure changes are properly validated and rolled out.
  • Support product testing: Design and execute test plans for new and revised applications and automation components, confirming fixes are implemented before release.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Turn investigation findings into concrete process, design, and procedure improvements, and track whether corrective actions work over time.
  • Support cross-functionally: Partner with Design Engineering, Integration, Production, Procurement, and Reliability to resolve technical and systemic issues.
  • Maintain records & traceability: Document investigation findings, RCA reports, and corrective action status in the ERP / quality management system.
  • Build cross-discipline fluency: Develop working knowledge across the mechanical, electrical, and software/firmware aspects of Vention's applications so you can investigate issues that span disciplines.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or a related technical field), or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience with investigations, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, or testing of electromechanical or automated systems.
  • Strong analytical mindset - comfortable breaking down ambiguous, multi-disciplinary problems into a structured investigation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems: schematics, layout, wiring.
  • Programming experience
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Collaborative by instinct - comfortable pulling in and working across engineering, production, and supplier teams.
  • Strong communicator, able to document and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with change management processes (ECN/ECO) - an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English (French an asset).
