Position profile:

T he Manager, Service & Installations is accountable to lead a team responsible for providing residential and commercial customers with service and installations related to broadband technology, transmission, and connectivity. This role manages all aspects of broadband installation, disconnection, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manages the delivery of province-wide technical broadband services and installations for residential and commercial customers, ensuring the connectivity of broadband transmission via multiple mediums (ex: coaxial cable, FTTx, ethernet and wireless).
  • Assures staff and contractor technicians adhere to Access Communications standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages the disconnection of broadband telecommunication systems.
  • Provides guidance to Supervisors and team members regarding technical problems or installation issues; follows through to ensure outcomes achieve service and installation standards.
  • Works with other departments to ensure customer support is provided for connectivity, communications, wiring and other requirements.
  • Monitors the department’s operations and service outcomes utilizing key performance metrics, including but not limited to, repeat customer visits, productivity, voice of the customer, safety inspections, quality inspections, customer calendar management, training, service and installation reports, and other available data/information to ensure adherence to quality, technical, safety and service standards.
  • Sets clear expectations to meet work specifications. Manages completion of outstanding or inadequate work prior to approving payment.
  • Ensures all technical work performed by staff and contractors adhere to the standards and specifications of CableLabs, SCTE, CTSF, CRTC, suppliers, Industry Canada and Access Communications standards.
  • Manages and maintains stringent safety protocols, processes, and related procedures; ensures safety inspections are conducted and follows up as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates leadership and is a role model who builds first-rate teams and maintains an inclusive and positive organizational culture in a highly competitive business environment.
  • Leads a significant provincialstaff complement t o achieve goals and objectives aimed at delivering exceptional customer value.
  • Ensures workflow, scheduling, and staffing levels in all areas of responsibility align with budget parameters, operational / customer needs; adheres to associated legislated requirements, collective agreement provisions, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Hires and develops team members; identifies and provides initial and on-going training and support for staff; works to develop capabilitie s, teamwork and a strong customer / member engagement and service orientation in accordance with existing job requirements and succession opportunities.
  • Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Travel is required as well as a valid driver’s license; working outside of normal working hours may be required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum two-year Diploma in Electronics Technician/Engineering or related post-secondary education from a recognized learning institution.
  • Five years progressive, hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry, including installation, repair, and maintenance (e.g., Internet, television, telephone, security)
  • Extensive background with respect to the installation, repair and maintenance of fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, ethernet wiring or wirelessnetworks for the Internet connectivity, television, telephone, security systems and related customer premise equipment.
  • Skilled use of MS Office and related software technologies.
  • Communication Skills; listening, verbal and written communication skills; writes reports, documents information; conducts meetings.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practical application.
