The opportunity:

  • Full-time clinical strength coach/kinesiologist: flexible start June-August - during this time one of our full-time kinesiologists will be vacating their position, creating an opportunity to take over some existing private-pay and ICBC caseload

Our team consists of modern strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists. We work with a diverse range of clients ranging from high performance athletes to new moms, and motivated clients of all ages, who are seeking to overcome pain or improve movement, performance and longevity. Strength coaches also play a lead role in offering team training to local teams such as ultimate frisbee and volleyball, ranging from high school to elite womens programs.

We have built our facility and systems to facilitate teamwork and break down barriers between healthcare disciplines, strength coaches and clients. Our aim is to accelerate personal and professional growth by embodying the spirit of a championship team, and optimise service delivery across the full spectrum of rehabilitation to performance goals.

Wage range:

Compensation is based on percentage of revenue and experience, approx $40-80/hr; building caseload with private clientele/personal training, team and small-group training and program-writing will be essential to maximize this opportunity, with additional seasonal team training opportunities creating opportunties to further connect with our clients and recruit additional long-term clientele

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in kinesiology (required)
  • BCAK and CSCS certifications (or eligible)
  • Professional Liability Insurance and valid First Aid with CPR/AED
  • Reformer pilates and SFMA (selective functional movement assessment) may be an asset but not required

Who we are looking for:

  • You have an existing caseload and would like to move to an exciting, highly professional multidisciplinary environment, or a history of building caseload in private strength and conditioning
  • You have a track record of participation in the local community and an ability to build relationship with local sport clubs, coaches and athletes leading to 1:1, partner, small group and team training client recruitment
  • You are keen to work with a mix of 1:1 with some small group and team training opportunities. 1:1 clients will be a mix of private paying, physio-prescribed exercise and round this out with a number of ICBC clients to create a strong, sustainable income
  • You are proficient in coaching a full range of strength and conditioning lifts and programming for rehabilitation and performance oriented clients
  • You have had mentorship and experiences under guidance from experienced strength and conditioning coaches such as mentorship under UBC Varsity Strength and Conditioning or similar
  • You are team oriented, keen to collaborate, learn from and teach others; excited to work in collaboration with physio, chiro and RMT professionals who value strength and movement
  • You have demonstrated habits of personal and professional growth and a caring, professional demeanor

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute clear plans to engage in the community and build private strength and conditioning/personal training caseload, in addition to internal private and ICBC referrals
  • Manage your caseload and clients to ensure they understand when and how often they need to see you in order to get results
  • For 1:1 clients - conduct an assessment at initial meeting and develop training programs based on your findings vs needs assessment for their activities and achievable goals
  • For small groups - communicate and coordinate for scheduling and continuity, develop programming based on shared goals and lateralize with modifications/progressions to suit individuals
  • For teams - build relationships and strive for goal-oriented programs ranging from introduction to strength and conditioning, to annual periodized plans; provide in-person training e.g. 1/week and online programming to be accessed through Teambuildr e.g. 2 supplemental training days/week; strive to create continuity for each client as team training periods conclude (transition to individual program-only, 1:1, 1:2, small group training etc.)
  • Interact with colleagues within your team in a professional manner and build relationships that ensure they can confidently refer clients to help build your caseload
  • Maintain a safe, “wow that’s clean” operating environment and strive to leave your workplace better than you found it

Available shifts:

Team training 7:45pm-8:45pm weeknights; Weekend Sat and/or Sun shift 9am-5pm; M-F 1:30-7:30pm shifts and select morning 6am-1pm shifts are available.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $40.00-$80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
