This is a hybrid position which involves some travel, but is primarily based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Since 1999, Premiere Suites has been the most recognized and trusted provider of high-quality temporary residences for professionals and families across Canada. The VP Finance is a senior executive role responsible for managing all financial functions of the company and ensuring alignment with its strategic objectives. This role combines hands-on operational oversight with strategic guidance, fostering collaboration across departments to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the President, the VP Finance acts as a key business partner to the leadership team and a mentor to the Finance department.

Executive Leadership:
Collaborate with the President and other executives to set and achieve the company's financial goals.
Act as a trusted advisor, providing insights on financial performance, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies.
Contribute to high-level decisions regarding the company's direction and long-term planning.

Financial Strategy and Planning:
Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
Oversee the FP&A team in providing actionable insights through financial modeling and analysis.
Drive strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, partnerships, and capital projects.

Manage the Finance department, including the Controller – Operations and Process Management, FP&A, and other financial staff.
Ensure financial operations, such as AR, AP, payroll, and reporting, are efficient and scalable.
Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, including tax laws and accounting standards (GAAP/ASPE).
Support the external audit process and maintain strong relationships with auditors.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:
Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
Manage relationships with banks, creditors, and other financial institutions.
 
Build and develop a high-performing Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Mentor key team members, including the Controllers and FP&A staff, to support their growth and succession planning.

Experience in senior finance roles, such as VP Finance, or Controller, with a focus on operational leadership.
Strong background in financial planning, corporate finance, and accounting principles (GAAP/ASPE).
Proficiency in financial systems, including QBO, with familiarity in CRM systems and automation tools being a plus.
Demonstrated success in managing organizational change, such as restructures or system transitions.
Strong business acumen and ability to connect financial performance with operational priorities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have an accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA, etc.).

Allocate company funds to ensure optimal departmental performance.
Assist in collections on bad debt accounts and late payers.
Communication with upper management and shareholders regarding audit outcomes.
Develop and implement financial controls and guidelines (in collaboration with Controller).
Manage and oversee financial affairs organization-wide.
Navigate legal and tax landscapes to ensure compliance.
Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and understanding economic trends (in collaboration with Controller).
