Passion, compassion, and precisionROLE SUMMARY:The nuclear medicine technologist interacts directly with patients, providing them with care and support throughout their procedures. They explain the procedures, answer questions, and ensure the patient's comfort and safety. Safety is a crucial aspect of working with radioactive materials. Nuclear medicine technologists adhere to strict protocols and safety measures to protect themselves, patients, and others in the clinic. They ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials and minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Technologists are responsible for the maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment. They perform routine quality control tests to ensure accurate functioning and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform diagnostic exams and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with clinic policies and quality standards.Prepare patients, through patient counseling and support.Operating nuclear medicine equipment.Monitor patients during procedures.Preparing, quality control and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals.Routine quality control tests on imaging equipment.Disposing of radioactive substances and contaminated items by following established guidelines.QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Current Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine)Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification – Basic Life SupportCTIC certification preferredMinimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicine TechnologistKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission RegulationsAbility to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with clinic standards.Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine equipmentWorking knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS)/ Radiology Information SystemsDemonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, and other health care staff both internally and of external agencies.Ability to plan and establish workload priority in collaboration with others.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Casual positions available.Benefits: Relocation Bonuses AvailableEmployer Paid Health and Dental Benefits Training and Education AllowancesExperience:Nuclear Medicine: 2 years (preferred)Work Location: In person
