The Lead Youth Worker role could be your next step The Lead Youth Worker focuses on ensuring high-quality case management services and transition planning in a group home environment. You will play a key role in working together with youth to create goals and assist them in participating in day programming according to their interests This junior leadership opportunity requires the mentorship of the youth in the home. You will be responsible for connecting and collaborating with the youths Care Team. Join a team of individuals who are making a difference Walk alongside the youth as they develop the life skills required to be confident adults. What you bring to the team

  • You bring 3+ years of experience working with vulnerable populations (youth experience is an asset).
  • You understand what it takes to motivate and support a team prior supervisory experience is an asset.
  • You possess a two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, or related fields.
  • You got what it takes to help make a group home safe, clean, and a place of comfort.
  • You describe yourself as non-judgmental, empathetic, flexible, and able to work with initiative and independence.
  • You are able to connect and inspire trust with youth struggling with addictions, poverty, mental health, and trauma.
  • You describe yourself as someone who utilizes a harm reduction, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach.
  • You are confident utilizing different computer applications.
  • You can travel to different sites as required using a personal vehicle.

  • Diploma in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, Human Services, or related field

Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience working with marginalized populations (youth experience an asset).
  • 1+ years’ experience working managing case files of youth.
  • Working knowledge and experience with harm reduction, resiliency, trauma-informed and solution focused practice.
  • Strong crisis intervention/de-escalation training/skills. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations. Ability to work in high pressure and stress situations on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated experience de-escalating crisis and potentially violent situations with individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol, under extreme stress &/or struggling with acute/chronic mental health crises.
  • Extensive background and experience working with youth struggling with substance use/addictions, poverty, mental health, traumatic histories, LGBTQ2S+, and Newcomers to Canada and/or refugees. Understanding and ability to respond to multiple, complex barriers faced by youth.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, database applications and computer operation.
