Reporting to Site Leadership, this evening shift Medical Laboratory Technologist I (MLT) position performs a variety of automated and manual duties in a multidisciplinary, team-focused environment. This includes, but is not limited to: STAT, routine and specialized laboratory procedures, specimen analysis, result entry, report verification, equipment troubleshooting, workflow/workload monitoring, specimen collection and preparation. The MLT ensures accurate patient and sample identification as required and documents unusual occurrences to senior staff, as appropriate. Operates, maintains, and performs troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment. Recognizes unusual or abnormal findings and responds to these in accordance with established policies and procedures. Communicates with appropriate healthcare professionals regarding patient samples/results as needed. This position performs QC/QA tasks, ensuring proper follow-up and documentation per established procedures. Follows and is aware of all applicable safety procedures. Participates in the maintenance of a safe and respectful working environment. Monitors department supply inventory and acts appropriately to maintain when needed. Validates and assesses various procedures and lab equipment under the direction of site leadership as required. Participates in the training and orientation of students and staff. Collaborates on the preparation of procedure manuals and/or process improvements. Completes and maintains all required reading, training, and competency testing. Provides feedback to supervisors for staff performance appraisals. Participates in quality initiatives and committee meetings. Performs other duties as required.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA). Additional Required
