ByWard Family Health (BWFHT), formerly University of Ottawa Health Services (UOHS), offers a comprehensive range of primary and specialized health care services. We are looking for an experienced psychiatrist to join our dynamic mental health team. The psychiatrist will focus on identifying and treating mental disorders by using a combination of biological, psychological and social treatment modalities. The incumbent will provide safe, quality, and compassionate patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the ByWard Family Health Team.
Conduct initial patient assessments and take detailed medical histories by evaluating their emotional, behavioural, and mental state through discussion, observation, and analysis
Diagnose, treat, and help prevent psychiatric disorders based on symptoms and prior medical treatment
Emphasis of treatment would include working individually with a patient using a variety of management, rehabilitative and psychotherapeutic techniques
May act as consultants to other physicians by working with psychologists, social workers or mental health workers to identify factors that contribute to mental health problems in a community and design preventative programs
Medical Degree with specialization in Psychiatry
Knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniques
Knowledge of medication appropriate for both children and adults and their side-effects
Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
