Takwata Builders LP (TKBT) is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks project
TKBT was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Our senior personnel have extensive resumes in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Establish and verify health and safety procedures.
  • Create and maintain an active interest in health and safety to eliminate accidents.
  • Analyze risks and propose solutions to eliminate them.
  • Monitor the implementation and compliance with preventive measures.
  • Assist employees in managing deviations and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Establish reporting on occupational accidents and other health/safety indicators.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify employee training needs by collaborating with colleagues to organize and execute H&S training programs, including onboarding and training logistics.
  • Asist in the ongoing maintenance and compliance requirements as it pertains to quality standard, health & safety assessments, MOL investigations, WSIB return to work plans & incident investigations.
  • Conduct incident investigations, inspections, and maintain related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, including managing MOL investigations, incident reporting, and return-to-work plans.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
  • Conduct behavioral observation in the workplace.
  • Distribution of safety material supplies and equipment as needed to team members.
  • Manage the selection, procurement, and fitting of PPE.
  • Support on-site toolbox talks, H&S briefings, and safety meetings.
  • Monitor safety documentation provided by subcontractors.
  • Undertake other health and safety duties as required.
  • Work cooperatively with all project team members on site, and site supervision / project management team to promote an ESH culture.
  • Ensure environment, health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities, adapting to various work environments and business activity.
  • Maintain all compliance documentation related to HSE department on computer data base, SharePoint, and hardcopy filing system.
  • Responsible for communicating any information changes to the HR Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or in the process of attaining) considered an asset.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR considered an asset.
  • Valid Drivers License (minimum G2 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of Construction Health & Safety considered an asset.
  • Familiarity/knowledge with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Guidelines.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
  • Great hand, eye, and foot coordination.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and teamwork abilities.
  • Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated.
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible and adapt to different ways of doing things.
  • Able to work under pressure while understanding and following safety regulations.
  • Positive attitude and great interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work rotations and camp site job.
  • Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying conditions).
  • Able to work substantial hours in field walking, standing, sometimes on uneven terrain.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Able and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
  • Lifting/carrying heavy equipment (50-100 lbs), and able to know when to ask for help.
  • Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and be fit for duty.
  • Able to follow and model all safety protocols.
  • Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
