Position: Senior School Mathematics Teacher

Urban Academy is currently inviting dedicated, team-oriented teachers to apply for our Senior School Mathematics Teacher position for the 2024-2025 school year. Faculty are required to support the school’s full program including extracurriculars in the areas of athletics, interest-based and academic clubs. Plan and deliver an engaging and interactive Mathematics program for Senior School students
Develop subject-specific standards to inform teaching, evaluation, and reporting based on BC curriculum.
Make relevant and innovative use of multiple technologies in the classroom, to enhance teaching and learning
Demonstrate commitment to culturally sustaining teaching practices: infuse diverse voices and perspectives in planning and delivery of learning experiences, including Indigenous, local, and global world views
Build a strong rapport with students and supporting the students’ social and emotional development
Utilize outcome-based formative and summative assessment strategies to evaluate growth in students’ acquisition of Mathematics and provide regular, constructive feedback to the students on their progress.
Collaborate with colleagues to align planning, instruction, and assessment.
Post-secondary degree in Education.
Valid BC Teaching Certificate, or maintain the ability to obtain one. Please indicate your Teaching Certificate Number # on your application (L or J followed by 6 digits)
Knowledge of the Grade 8 - 12 BC Math curriculum and Ministry requirements for teaching
Collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on collaborative planning and assessment.
Superior knowledge of curriculum and teaching and learning, specifically when planning educational strategies.
Superior EQ skills in self-awareness, self-management, social agility, impact and influence.

Urban Academy offers a comprehensive total compensation package including health benefits and RRSP program. The current faculty grid salary range for this position is $64,685 to $110,765 b ased on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
