The Intermediate Planner coordinates and manages projects through the project lifecycle. This position works closely with all internal and external stakeholders ensuring each project deliverables are achieved. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of project files as well as liaise with municipal and agency staff and attend client and stakeholder meetings.Key ResponsibilitiesHigh level of coordination with the planners and several municipalities for getting the necessary approvals for multiple developments and construction projectsWorks collaboratively with peers and to define various planning and design solutionsProduces high-quality drawings, models, layouts, plans, reports and other materials for communication with clients and project stakeholders.Intermediate knowledge of the approval process, such as Official Plan amendment, Zoning, Draft Plan/Site Plan approval and subdivision registration is necessary.Maintain liaison between the several consultants to satisfy the requirements set out in different agreementsCompleting applications and paperwork for submission to consultants as well as government agenciesEnsure that aggressive deadlines are set and met by everyone on the teamWorking in a team environment and making sure that everyone is on the same page and aware of what needs to be done and by whomWeekly updates on all projects must be submitted to managementSupports senior staff who manage projects and different aspects of the businessKey QualificationsA degree in urban planning, geography or a related fieldActive membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)3+ years’ related work experience preferably in the consulting industryDeveloping planner competencies as described with OPPI (Ontario Professional Planners Institute)Sound knowledge of the Ontario Planning System, including relevant legislation and the development approval processSound knowledge of Planning Legislation such as Official Plans, Secondary Plans and Zoning By-lawsProven experience with facilitating conversations with Municipal and Regional approval authoritiesIntermediate knowledge of MS Office SuiteExcellent communication skills, both written and oralHighly efficient and effective in working in an individual as well as team environmentAbility to handle a high level of responsibilityTime management skills, able to prioritizeStrong writing skills; proficiency in report and plan writing
