Interim Senior Analyst, SOX Compliance

DescriptionLocated out of our Calgary office, the Interim Senior Analyst, SOX Compliance reports to the Manager, SOX Compliance. This 18-month interim position is responsible for overseeing and executing the internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) testing plan to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. It includes assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, evaluating findings, and providing recommendations, performing data analysis and reporting results. We are looking for a Senior SOX Auditor that is a go-getter and a problem solver.Key Activities and ResponsibilitiesPlanning and executing controls testing for assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including coordinating work with the internal controls team, internal stakeholders, external auditors and other third parties.Conduct comprehensive walk-throughs and document relevant business processes, risks, control activities and testing attributes in accordance with SOX and audit standards.Evaluate severity of deficiencies, identify root causes, and develop clear, concise, practical commendations and ensure timely remediation.Assist with monitoring and supporting the optimization of critical business processes and procedures.Ensure adherence to all applicable department and professional standards and the ability to address review notes in a timely manner with a strong sense of accountability.Support SOX contractors in designing and testing documentation.Education, Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting and Auditing designations (CPA, CA, or equivalent).At least 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting, integrated auditing, internal controls and/or financial processes and reporting, Big 4 experience is an asset.Additional professional designations considered such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) are highly valued.Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and SOX regulatory requirements is an asset.Experience managing business process testing with a good understanding of ITGC’s and application controls.Experience using SAP or other ERP software.Prior experience in midstream, NGL extraction, crude oil optimization, Petro chemicals, or energy trading experience will be an asset.Demonstrated and proven project management or coordination skills, strategic thinker, with strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and strong influencing skills with the ability to effectively advocate viewpoints and garner support.Strong organization and follow-up skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments.Solid understanding and ability to apply risk and control concepts and the ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change.Ability to give and follow instructions accurately and efficiently; proactive in asking clarifying questions to ensure work effort is directed wholly toward desired outcome.Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.HoursMonday to FridayLength of Contract:18 months
