Accountant - Payroll & WSIB Specialist

Role Summary We are seeking a full-time , on-site Accountant to specialize in payroll and WSIB reporting for our clients. At Olaya, every client’s payroll and WSIB needs are handled by a single dedicated specialist, ensuring clear communication and strong client relationships. Because payroll is critical to employee paycheques, this role demands urgency, proactivity, and excellent communication. Key Responsibilities: Remit source deductions to CRA and report WSIB premiums. Act as the single point of contact for payroll and WSIB matters. Provide clear explanations of deductions, benefits and WSIB premiums. Complete T4s, Records of Employment and other payroll forms. Handle adjustments, bonuses and commissions and set up new payroll codes as required in Quickbooks Desktop and/or Quickbooks Online. Monitor changes in CRA and WSIB rules. Maintain payroll schedules across multiple clients, ensuring deadlines are consistently met. Respond to CRA for payroll revisions. Communicate frequently with clients in both Spanish and English—fluency in Spanish is required. Additional Duties (as you gain experience with our systems and clients): Bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting. Analyzing financial data (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets). Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Preferred Qualifications Payroll experience and knowledge of Canadian payroll laws. Hands‑on experience processing payroll cycles, calculating CPP, EI and income tax deductions, and preparing T4 and ROE slips is an asset. Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Ability to maintain accurate ledgers, journal entries and bank reconciliations, and to use QuickBooks accounting software. Attention to detail and organizational skills. The role requires managing multiple client payrolls, meeting strict deadlines and keeping information confidential.
