FCC Construcción has been present in Canada for more than 25 years, involved in innovative subway infrastructure work, such as the Highway 407 stations and Northern Tunnels for the Toronto York Spadina Subway Line Expansion, as well as the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Fredericton Moncton Highway.
We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.
FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción's presence in the Canadian market.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing topographic surveys, mapping, and data collection to support the planning and construction of the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations project. You will work closely with project teams, engineers, and construction personnel to ensure accurate and timely survey data is provided for all stages of the project.
This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON and requires a daily presence in the office and/or on the construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct topographic surveys to capture detailed land features, including terrain, elevation, and infrastructure details for rail transit construction sites.
- Use advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and laser scanning devices to collect accurate site data.
- Prepare and produce accurate maps, drawings, and reports from survey data for use by engineers, architects, and construction teams.
- Collaborate with project engineers, architects, and construction crews to ensure survey data aligns with project design and construction requirements.
- Establish and maintain survey control points, ensuring proper calibration and alignment of instruments.
- Review and verify survey data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices on job sites, ensuring safe working conditions for yourself and the team.
- Help prepare construction sites by identifying topographic features that may affect project design, drainage, and construction activities.
- Maintain detailed records of survey work, including field notes, data logs, and any issues encountered during surveys.
- Use survey software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to process, analyze, and present survey data.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in topographic surveying, particularly in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in using total stations, GPS/GNSS, laser scanning, and other surveying equipment.
- Knowledge of survey software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
- Strong understanding of topographic mapping principles and techniques.
- Familiarity with rail transit construction standards, practices, and challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Certification with the Ontario Land Surveyors Association (OLSA) or similar is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to report findings and work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable transportation.
