Job Summary:
The Chief Party Surveyor is responsible for overseeing all surveying activities on a transit project, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and coordination between engineering teams, contractors, and project stakeholders. This role involves managing survey crews, verifying geospatial data, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise field survey teams, ensuring efficient data collection and processing.
- Plan, organize, and direct survey operations to support transit infrastructure projects.
- Ensure proper survey methodologies and techniques are used for precise measurements.
- Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys for transit projects.
- Verify accuracy of survey data, including calculations, maps, and reports.
- Utilize GPS, total stations, drones, and other surveying technologies to collect data.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations.
- Review and validate survey reports, drawings, and geospatial information.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and contractors to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to provide accurate survey data.
- Communicate with regulatory authorities and utility companies as required.
- Attend project meetings to provide survey-related input and updates.
- Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Manage survey crew schedules, workloads, and resource allocation.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures in the field.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent certification (preferred).
- 3+ years of management/supervisory experience
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in surveying, with a focus on transit projects.
- Proficiency in survey software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and GIS applications.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of transit infrastructure and regulations.
Work Conditions:
- Field-based role with site visits required.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
