Benshaw Canada Controls Inc., located in Listowel, Ontario provides the industry’s most advanced electronic motor control, protection products, and associated services. The Drafting Department supports both the Production and Sales Departments to create customized Low and Medium Voltage electrical and mechanical drawings to customer required specifications. As a Mechanical Drafting Technician, you will:

  • Work with Engineers and members from other departments to understand project requirements and translate into detailed drawings
  • Create CNC programs using Mechanical software plug-ins
  • Produce mechanical drawings following drafting standards within specified timelines using Autodesk Inventor
  • Perform mechanical calculations
  • Create parts lists/bills of material for projects
  • Create drawing acknowledgment to be sent with customer approval/information drawings or mechanical drawings for external manufacturers
  • Utilize job/service database to create efficiencies within the drawing production process

 

What will you bring to the position? 

  • Post-secondary education in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics Technology, Drafting or related field
  • Three to five years’ experience in Mechanical Drafting Technician position in related field
  • Strong computer skills including working with Excel, Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Understanding of CNC and NC Code 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when preparing drawings
  • Previous experience with Low and Medium Voltage electrical design considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Low and Medium Voltage distribution equipment such as transformers and switchgear considered an asset
  • Ability to understand complex electrical concepts considered an asset
