Job Responsibilities
Your specific duties as an Operations Manager will include:
  • Working within the company's policies, the collective agreement, and legislative requirements, formulate and administer procedures and controls to ensure safe working habits, personnel safety, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensure safety and security regulations are enforced and action is taken to correct unsafe work conditions.
  • Comply with the facility environmental policy and any applicable operational controls in order to meet the established environmental objectives and targets.
  • Comply with the facility's World Class Manufacturing principles in order to meet the established targets and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain "5S" to ensure work areas are kept in neat and orderly condition.
  • Responsible for implementation of all manufacturing quality systems, and team performance with accountability to zero defects, through the identification of root cause.
  • In conjunction with the Quality Department, formulate timely and effective response to all corrective action requests raised by the customer or identified during internal audits.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of manufacturing technical processes and control of manufacturing operating costs to ensure all product orders are produced and delivered on time with no shortfall in quality or quantity.
  • Lead activity through in use of Lean methodology to eliminate waste through productivity improvements.
  • Promote the philosophy of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) through the standardization of WCM methodology and the application and use of WCM tools.
  • Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvement for equipment and plant facilities.
  • Provide leadership, direction and empowerment to manufacturing team, and act as a mentor to create accountability and personnel development opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain a positive labour relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, grievances are addressed and employees are communicated with in an open manner.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business; engineering or equivalent post-secondary education
  • Minimum eight years manufacturing experience and 3 years management experience
  • Must be a strong, confident, hands on leader with previous experience working under pressure in a fast paced, unionized environment.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of plant, organization, departments, products and processes.
  • Solid understanding of Ontario EH&S legislation.
  • Strong analytical skills with application of and the ability to formulate business related plans/decisions, integrate these into the workplace, monitor and assess results.
  • Strong change management skills and the ability to influence and enact change within a unionized environment.
  • Are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable on a daily basis. Factory machines can be quite loud.
  • Sometimes exposed to dirt, cold, noise, water and oil.
  • Work near others. They often share the same work space.

Starting salary of minimum to $110K-120k below max depending on education, skills, experience, and level of experience
