As the Manager, Preconstruction, you will play a pivotal role in Wesgroup’s project development process. Reporting to the Director, Preconstruction, you will manage all phases of preconstruction, including overseeing critical activities such as conceptual estimating, design coordination, permitting, and budgeting. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that projects are set up for success from the very beginning.
Assist the Director, Preconstruction to set the strategy for the entire pre-construction process and be accountable for it determining and allocating the resource requirements to implement the pre-construction strategy of the business unit.

Cost Analysis:
Conduct detailed cost analysis for all aspects of a project, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to develop precise cost estimates and budgets.
Review drawing milestone issuances for coordination and overall completeness. Budgeting and Cost Control:
Develop and manage detailed preconstruction budgets, tracking market conditions and providing regular reports to stakeholders, where applicable.
Implement cost control measures to optimize project profitability without compromising quality.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments during the preconstruction phase, identifying potential challenges and developing mitigation strategies.
Work closely with contract administrators to ensure that contracts and agreements are in line with project requirements.
Subcontractor Management:
Identify, qualify, and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with project specifications and budgetary constraints.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors, focusing on competitive pricing and value-added services.
Manage and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the estimating department.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating roles with a preference for general contracting.
Strong knowledge of British Columbia's construction market, building codes, and regulations.
Strong ability to read design drawings and full understanding of construction assemblies
Knowledge of BIM or Revit software
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., AutoDesk Build, ProEst, On-Screen Take Off and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience working onsite or as a sub-trade, is an asset
