Job Description:
Our client, a North York Law firm requires a Law Clerk to join their team. Reporting to the Lawyers, the Senior Law Clerk is responsible for a variety of activities, including all the closing documents for residential and commercial condo units and suites. This entails file reviews, cross referencing of data for accuracy and ensuring all timelines are adhered to for all parties involved.
Responsibilities:
- Set up projects – organizing all individual files and ensuring things are in place for successful closing
- Review amendments
- Create spreadsheet with all pertinent data
- Input all upgrades for the units into the system (Lawyer Done Deal)
- Receive information from clients – budget, lawyers’ info – and enter into the database
- File closing information – enter into system, create template for Final Statement of Adjustment and all related closing documents
- Assist with other condo/subdivision projects by assigned team as needed
- Communication with law firms to finalize details
- Participate in occupancy closings (medium and junior levels already doing)
- Responsible for managing all files and ensuring properly stored once project completed
Qualifications:
- 4 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Legal Assistant/Law Clerk diploma program considered an asset
- Previous experience with condo/ subdivision closings
- Previous experience with Lawyer Done Deal (technology platform) is a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PC LAW, Teraview, and Windows applications
- Able to communicate effectively to all levels of internal and external contacts, both verbally and in writing
- Strong organization skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent collaboration, organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
- Able to communicate effectively to all levels of internal and external contacts, both verbally and in writing
- Able to work and thrive in a team environment, focused on achieving results
- Able to maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of management
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Hardworking
- Open to learning and enhancing existing skills, adaptable to new and different processes
