Who We Are?
ONxpress Transportation Partners (ONxpress) were chosen by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) to enter the Development Phase of the On-Corridor Works project – the largest project in Metrolinx’s GO Expansion.
Unprecedented in its scale and complexity, this multi-billion-dollar capital program will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
What’s the Opportunity?
ONxpress Civils Contractor (CJV) is looking for a Technical Writer to collaborate with and support various departments to develop and write documentation, preplans, presentations, etc.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation (ex. reports, presentations, preplans, etc.)
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation and disciplines
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or relevant technical field
- Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer
- Understanding of engineering and construction terminology, materials, methods, and processes.
- Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
- Experience in writing documentation, reports, presentations and pre-plans for various audiences
- Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail ability to effectively convey complex technical information to various stakeholders.
- Experience in working with disciplines to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Professional certification (ex: Society for Technical Communication)
- Experience in using XML tools to create documentation
