As an Electrical Engineer, you will be part of an integrated engineering team providing engineering services for large and small capital projects. As The Successful Candidate, You Will
  1. Develop a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule.
  2. Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time-based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the engineering budget.
  3. Maintain the project scope of work documentation and revisions as required during the design evolution.
  4. Review and execute the electrical and layout design criteria documents.
  5. Review electrical technical deliverables (specifications, datasheets, drawings, etc.).
  6. Assist in the preparation and development of project-specific procedures.
  7. Define the system requirements to achieve the project results and monitor effectiveness.
  8. Represent the electrical practice in project engineering coordination meetings.
  9. Participate in electrical design reviews.
  10. Ensure coordination, between the electrical team and other disciplines, of all activities being performed as the design evolves.
  11. Ensure that quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with project procedures and the quality assurance plan.
  12. Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of electrical engineering work.
  13. Ensure that all work designed, manufactured, and supplied in the electrical engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  14. Participation in the compilation of the client Project Safety Management Plan with specific reference to switching, isolation, and lockout procedures.
You Bring To The Role
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or another Canadian Province.
  • 5-10 years’ experience overall ideally within an EPCM, heavy industrial environment, preferred.
  • Strong deliverable focus and ability to plan the work.
  • A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, contracting, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards).
  • Knowledge of electrical calculations (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and harmonics).
  • Knowledge of specification of large motor/generator sets and associated equipment, including high-voltage switchgear, transformers, starters, and related protection systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical design tools/software such as SPEL ETAP, SKM, and Easy Power are a plus.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients, and peers.
  • Must demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others ensuring the quality of deliverables.
