Laboratory Analyst

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in St. Louis, MO. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
Record data in a specified manner
Some clerical work may be involved including login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment when needed
Perform autoclave duties
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual Requirements:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry a plus
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plus
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
One to two years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience is a plus, but not required
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Work independently and with a team
Work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills Available Shift :
Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
