The Climate and Energy Strategy Lead (Lead) provides vision, motivation,inspiration, and strategic leadership for TNC\'s Clean Energy Transitioninitiative which is designed to transform the approach, scale, andstrategy to ensure the rapid, sustainable, and equitable deployment ofrenewable energy. This includes promoting appropriate siting of energyassets that are low impact for habitat and species. We will do this byharnessing the knowledge, capacity, and relationships across the GreatPlains Division Business Units and in collaboration with energy leads inthe North America Region, External Affairs, Corporate Engagement andGlobal teams. The Great Plains Climate and Energy Strategy Lead will be responsiblefor the execution of the Great Plains Division clean energy transitionstrategy which centers on enabling a significant renewable energydeployment while ensuring that new renewable energy development is sitedin low-impact areas. The Lead provides direction, oversight andaccountability for this regional effort and integrates all aspects ofimplementation - including complex governance and collaboration,initiative design and tracking, policy and relationship development,outreach and communications, and fundraising.
The Lead must embrace an interdisciplinary and systems wideapproach that unleashes the full potential of renewable energy, climatescience, policy, and communications staff working in multiple GreatPlains states and at the regional and national levels. The Lead willbring together this substantial workforce by fostering a shared visionand collaborative team structure across business units, and with diverseinternal and external partners, in s rvice of these goals.
The Lead serves as an experienced advisor, senior thought leader andskilled advocate, establishing the Conservancy as a major conservationpartner in the transition to clean, green, and equitable renewableenergy and helps to increase the resilience of nature and people as weadapt to climate change. cultivating strategic relationshipswith public agencies and key decision-makers including non-governmentalorganizations and energy trade associations; collaboratively developingand advocating for policy positions; and supporting public and private fundraising, includingdonor identification, cultivation, and stewardship. The Lead will be aspokesperson and key point of contact both internally and externally onclean energy priorities; providing research and policy analysis to stategovernment relations/external affairs staff; tracking policies anddecisions that directly affect TNC\'s climate and clean energy goals.
