AECOM is currently searching for a Senior Municipal Designer on a regular full-time basis, reporting from the Burnaby office. The primary role of a Senior Civil Designer is to contribute to water and wastewater conveyance projects and earthwork/roadway projects in a supportive capacity, working as part of a project team under the guidance and supervision of project managers, engineers, or specialists. A Senior Civil Designer will perform a variety of tasks, including the development of 3D models, CAD drawings, contract specifications, quantity take-offs, and technical reports. Incorporating topographic surveys into the design and as-built surveys into record drawings.
Creating CAD surface and digital terrain modeling.
Developing grading and conveyance system models using Civil 3D to assist in the creation of 2D plans and profiles, cross-sections, and details.
Preparing plan, profile, grading, cross-sections, surface design for water, storm, and wastewater piping, and roadways design from preliminary to final.
Creating roadway alignments, profiles, subassemblies, and corridors using Civil 3D.
Performing vehicle turn or swept path analysis using AutoTURN or Vehicle tracking.
Adhering to client CAD standards and styles, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.
Conducting model checks and drawing design checks as part of the QA/QC procedure for others' work.
Collaborating with Project Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers to assist in planning, design, AutoCAD/Civil 3D drafting, and the preparation of construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates for various civil engineering projects.
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering + 4 years experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in municipal engineering projects, utilities, servicing projects and site gradings OR Civil engineering technician/technology diploma + 6 years relevant experience

Ideally 10+ years experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in municipal engineering projects, utilities, servicing projects and site grading
Proficiency with Civil 3D, with an emphasis on municipal engineering projects, utilities and servicing projects, roadway and site grading is a must.
Eligible for registration in British Columbia with the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) or other technical accreditation is an asset.
Good understanding of civil engineering design concepts for grading, drainage, earthworks, roads, underground conveyance systems (water distribution, stormwater, and wastewater collection systems)
Experience with high-speed expressways/freeways/interchanges design projects - BC MoTI projects highly desirable
Solid understanding of coordinate systems
Excellent understanding of requirements and application of client CAD standards.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience with BlueBeam, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud and ProjectWise is an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Valid BC Class V Driver's License
