Reports to: Senior School Principal
Stratford Hall, an independent, K-12 IB World School, invites applications from individuals who wish to join our dynamic team. Located in Vancouver, BC, the School is home to over 540 students and over 100 teachers and support staff. Our graduates attend the top post-secondary schools in Canada, the US and abroad. Stratford Hall is one of the few IB continuum schools in Canada and has a rich tradition of educational excellence in the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.
The Learning Strategist assists identified students with additional learning needs to reach their academic potential in collaboration with classroom teachers, administrators, educational support staff, parents and outside professionals. The Learning Strategist is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of student Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and facilitates the creation and implementation of a collaborative support plan for students who require differentiated learning. The Learning Strategist is supervised by the Senior School Principal.
Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills, and
Assist classroom teachers to meet the individual needs of children in their classrooms by discussing strategies which will assist their students
Collaborate with teachers, including attending grade-based planning meetings as required, in order to deploy the learning support team resources accordingly
Lead, implement and, when appropriate, recommend Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Plans for students in the Senior School
Liaise with school leadership to develop high-quality support for identified students who are significantly below or ahead of grade-level expectations
Maintain an inventory of resources specific to the role, e.g. software, hardware, furniture
Assist in developing co-curricular programmes that ensure academic support and/or challenge
Provide and monitor test and assessment data on individual students
Maintain positive relationships with students, providing individual support for students to help them achieve their potential
Regularly meet with other learning specialist teachers in the school to develop and review policies related to the support of students and additional learning needs
