Background: The Bernard Betel Centre for Creative Living is a vibrant, growing, active community centre for adults 55+ years founded in 1965. Today it offers more than 90 programs on-site each week and daily virtual programs through Zoom and Facebook Live. The Bernard Betel Centre is a non-profit organization with over 300 volunteers, 1,800 members, and many more non-members participating in year-round special events, courses, volunteer opportunities, Meals on Wheels and many other cultural and recreational programs. Currently, more than 600 seniors receive our free Kosher Meals on Wheels program three times per week and over 800 seniors receive Chiropody services on a regular basis. Enriching Quality of Life for All. Providing exemplary and multilingual educational, cultural and wellness programs in a safe and supportive environment to encourage healthy, active and creative living for individuals 55+.

We are searching for an enthusiastic, passionate Manager, Volunteer Services to champion our volunteer program. The Manager, Volunteer Services will recruit exceptionally committed volunteers, and direct and monitor their efforts.
Ultimately, the Manager, Volunteer Services should continuously endeavor to expand and enhance our program's impact.
Source suitably qualified and skilled volunteers;
Devise goal-oriented plan for each volunteer role – (scheduling is the role of day-to-day supervisor);
Assign routine and ad hoc responsibilities to volunteers;
Identify training requirements of volunteers;
Provide and or arrange training, prepares policies, and volunteer manuals as required to meet these needs;
Conducts research and drafts policies/reports related to volunteer services; 
Develop, organize and execute special volunteer recognition events and initiatives;
Nominate volunteers for receiving volunteer awards granted externally and internally, in collaboration with the agency’s management and staff team;
Review volunteers' performance at scheduled intervals;
Conduct regular follow-up with volunteers to ensure satisfaction, and conduct overall program evaluation;
Ensure legal compliance with volunteer-specific and organization-wide guidelines;
Is an active member of the staff and management team;
Works collaboratively with all agency departments in identifying volunteer needs and requests;
Volunteer Management Certificate an asset, or other related Certification or Diploma, undergraduate/graduate degree in related field, or combination of education and related experience;
Receipt of formal managerial training is advantageous;
In-depth managerial experience, ideally in volunteer-driven contexts;
Minimum of three years’ experience in recruiting, training and managing volunteers, and or human resources experience.
Valid driver's license as back-up for Meals on Wheels delivery or assist with pick-up or delivery for programs when required;
Computer proficiency and knowledge of Raisers Edge and other databases;
Strong team player with demonstrated ability to be flexible and collaborative.
Language Requirements:
~ Russian, Hebrew, and or Yiddish an asset
