We are currently recruiting for a Land Use Specialist to join our Sustainability team in the Burnaby office.Provides leadership and technical oversight in land use strategy, planning and policy.
· Writes technical reports, analyses and interprets data.
· Prepares written deliverables in accordance with provincial, territorial and/or federal regulatory requirements, best practices, and/or any preferences or protocols identified by respective Indigenous nations.
· Manages the coordination, organization, and delivery of socio-cultural research programs and related community engagement.
· Contributes to proposal writing.
Degree in social sciences, natural resource management, geography, or related field of study.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in land use planning with an environmental consulting firm and/or regulator
· Knowledge of socio-economic assessments, engagement, and master planning.
· Understanding of and demonstrated aptitude for analyzing complex legal and regulatory documents, including official plans, zoning bylaws, growth plans and other applicable policy documents.
· Solid understanding of provincial and federal environmental assessment legislation, regulations, and guidelines in a Canadian context.
· Demonstrated research, analysis, and technical writing skills, including gathering and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
· Ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, develop scopes of work and grow a client network
· Experience working with Indigenous Nations in western Canada and/or communities across Canada.
