Niagara Health provides a full range of acute care hospital services to the 500,000 residents across the Niagara region and are one of the few hospitals in Ontario that own and operate a long-term care facility. A community-based academic centre, with a focus on teaching and learning, research, innovation and partnership, that propels them to continually improve care and make a difference in people's lives. The Niagara Health team is made up of more than 7,300 staff, physicians and volunteers who they count on to deliver Extraordinary Caring. As a pivotal member of the executive team, the Chief of Staff/Executive Vice-President, Medical Affairs (COS/EVP) reports to the CEO and is accountable to the Board of Directors on matters related to quality of care provided by professional staff. Through clear objectives and expectations, the COS/EVP ensures the performance, quality of clinical care, and adherence to the hospital's professional standards. They recognize the critical importance of role modelling accountability, respect, quality, and professionalism.
As the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), the COS/EVP collaborates with Physician Chiefs to foster a culture where NH professional staff can excel in patient care, while upholding NH core values. In this role, they are directly accountable to the Board of Directors for matters concerning medical quality, in accordance with the Hospital’s Professional Staff By-Laws and relevant provincial legislation. With a clear focus on the patient experience, the COS/EVP enables Physician Chiefs to drive innovation, modernization, and quality.
This position presents an exciting opportunity for a physician leader dedicated to serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Board of Directors and executive team. Niagara Health is seeking a COS/EVP who embodies exceptional and inclusive leadership, is adept at hands-on administrative leadership, and committed to fostering innovation while prioritizing an exceptional patient experience.
As a dynamic communicator, they will cultivate strong relationships with medical leaders and frontline physicians, championing their concerns and ideas and effectively translating them into actionable initiatives. In addition to possessing impressive credentials in senior medical leadership and clinical practice, the ideal candidate will boast a proven track record of successful leadership within hospital or health system settings.
