Position Summary: The Senior Director of Philanthropy is responsible for planning and executing annual giving programs and a yearly calendar of philanthropic events. Develops an overall plan and direction for major donor activities with an associated work plan detailing short and long-term goals, specific action steps and deliverables, and a process for monitoring and evaluating the success of the major gifts program.
Be proactive in identifying new prospects, building relationships, and networking to build a portfolio of qualified major gift prospects.
· Maintain accurate records of activities in the Development department database (Raiser’s Edge/Blackbaud). Work proactively to network and expand the portfolio.
· Adhere to professionalism and fundraising best practices as demonstrated by management industry standards and donor-centered methodology.
· Lead, plan, and direct annual Board (in coordination with President/CEO) and individual appeals to all donors and prospects with a staff contact, those getting letter only and follow up calls as well as donors included in direct mail, online giving, and digital social media, working with cross-functional teams to develop integrated materials and messaging to support each campaign/communication.
· Identify, recruit, manage and coordinate the Leadership Circle Committee with the goal of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these volunteer leaders and donors.
· Work closely with the Board of Directors, President/CEO and Senior Management Team to identify, cultivate and solicit major donors and prospects, developing and implementing strategies to more closely engage these donors and grow their support. Analyze and share fundraising data with internal and external audiences to empower informed decision making on fundraising prospects and strategies.
· Work with the philanthropy leadership team to develop, analyze and forecast revenue for individual giving and prepare and manage the expense budget for the Individual Giving team.
· Provide meaningful supervision and support for the Annual Fund team, coordinating workloads and projects, monitoring progress, creating opportunities for new challenges and learning, and giving regular feedback on progress toward goals, both as a team and individually.
· Be part of Senior Management Team to discuss strategic plan implementation and all other activities in the organization.
· Creative and Curious — A systems-thinker and builder, who is not afraid to be innovative in designing solutions and has skills in articulating these ideas and concepts.
· Methodical — Strong analytical, systems, and problem-solving skills to evaluate performance, prepare reports, and recommend/implement solutions using independent judgment. Reliable — Leadership skills that reflect and value a team approach, demonstrated integrity, effectiveness, efficiency, and the ability to deliver high quality service. Highly capable of handling multiple tasks, projects, and timelines. Shares a deep respect for the community, its stakeholders and the residents that we serve.
· Prior supervisory/management experience
· Computer literate including Microsoft Applications- Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet.
· Experience with Razor’s Edge software
· Able to work a flexible schedule to include, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
