Reporting to: Head of Teaching & Learning

The Coordinator of Teaching and Learning, Elementary School plays a pivotal role within our educational framework. Operating under the guidance of the Head of Teaching and Learning and the Elementary School Principal, their primary focus is enhancing teaching strategies and optimizing learning experiences. This entails collaborating with teachers to refine instructional strategies, implement innovative teaching approaches, and integrate cutting-edge educational technologies.

Elementary Teachers report to the Coordinator on their instructional methods and classroom practices. As a supervising mentor and principal resource, the Coordinator supports teachers in cultivating dynamic classroom environments conducive to student engagement and achievement.

The Coordinator of Teaching and Learning, Elementary School supports teachers in creating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating long, medium and short-term pedagogical plans that aim to develop a more sequenced curriculum and use key assessment data to inform instructional decisions, differentiated instruction and assessment and evaluation practices.

Through ongoing professional development and reflective practices, the Coordinator empowers teachers to continually elevate their pedagogical skills, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning across the Elementary School, and accountability within the school community.

The Coordinator supports the Head of Teaching and Learning in overseeing the implementation of child-centered interventions at the Elementary School. The Coordinator ensures all students have access to high quality, equitable and personalized instruction, and all teachers have opportunities to engage in job-embedded professional growth and development.

Our ideal candidate is an effective pedagogical coach, a team leader, a researcher and a key communicator of the School's vision, mission and strategic direction. The Coordinator of Teaching and Learning Coordinator, Elementary School will demonstrate:

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to develop plans aimed at driving meaningful change and enriching teacher practices;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders;
  • Proficiency coordinating and assessing teaching;
  • Excellent leadership skills and a collaborative approach.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Bilingualism (English-French).
  • Asset: A postgraduate degree in a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Record of at least 5 years of exceptional teaching in an elementary school.
  • Facilitating school teams and leading teacher growth.
  • Coordinating long-term projects that significantly improved a school community’s instructional practices.
  • Assets: Independent school environment, educational consulting, and supervising teams.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Capacity to express the core principles of progressive education and describe the application of those principles in a school community.
  • Expertise in high-leverage teaching practices across disciplines, from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
  • Understanding of coaching principles, approaches and frameworks for teacher growth and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and competency-based assessment.
  • Familiarity with Understanding by Design Curriculum Design Framework and Backward Design.
  • Assets: Knowledge of technology integration, Visible Learning, and Project-Based Learning.

La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage de l’école primaire joue un rôle essentiel dans notre cadre éducatif. Sous la supervision conjointe du directeur de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage ainsi que du directeur de l’école primaire, cette personne vise principalement à améliorer les stratégies d’enseignement et à optimiser les expériences d’apprentissage. Cela implique de travailler en collaboration avec le corps professoral afin de perfectionner les pratiques pédagogiques, de mettre en place des approches innovantes et d’intégrer les technologies éducatives les plus récentes.

Les enseignantes et enseignants du primaire rendent compte de leurs méthodes d'enseignement et de leurs pratiques en classe à la coordonnatrice ou au coordonnateur. En tant qu’une ou un guide et une ressource, cette personne aide le corps enseignant à créer des environnements de classe dynamiques, propices à l’engagement et à la réussite des élèves.

La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage soutient les enseignantes et enseignants dans la création, la mise en œuvre, le suivi et l’évaluation de plans pédagogiques à long, moyen et court terme qui respectent ou visent à développer un programme d’études plus séquencé et dans l’utilisation de données d’évaluation clés pour informer les décisions pédagogiques, l’enseignement différencié et les pratiques d’évaluation.

Par le biais d’un développement professionnel continu et à des pratiques réflexives, la personne titulaire de ce poste permet aux enseignantes et enseignants d’améliorer continuellement leurs compétences pédagogiques et favorise une culture d’amélioration continue de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage dans l’ensemble de l’école primaire.

La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur aide le directeur de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage à superviser la mise en œuvre d’interventions centrées sur l’élève à l’école primaire. La personne titulaire du poste veille à ce que toutes et tous les élèves aient accès à un enseignement personnalisé de haute qualité et à ce que tout le corps professoral ait la possibilité de s’engager dans un développement professionnel intégré à leur travail, de s’épanouir et d’apprendre sur leur pratique.

La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage de l’école primaire démontra les qualités suivantes :

  • Fortes compétences en matière de gestion de projet et capacité à élaborer des plans visant à enrichir la pratique des enseignantes et enseignants et à susciter des changements significatifs ;
  • Solides compétences en matière de communication et capacité à impliquer à impliquer tous les acteurs et actrices de la vie pédagogique de l’école ;
  • Expérience de la coordination et de l’évaluation de l’enseignement ;
  • Excellentes compétences en matière de leadership et approche collaborative.

QUALIFICATIONS

ÉDUCATION ET FORMATION

  • Baccalauréat en éducation ;
  • Bilinguisme (anglais-français) ;
  • Atout : Un diplôme d’études supérieures dans un domaine connexe.

EXPÉRIENCES

  • Bilan d’au moins 5 ans d’enseignement exceptionnel dans une école primaire ;
  • Expérience dans l’animation d’équipes scolaires et dans l’accompagnement du développement du corps enseignant ;
  • Expérience dans la coordination de projets à long terme qui ont amélioré de manière significative les pratiques pédagogiques d’une communauté scolaire ;
  • Atouts : Avoir travaillé dans un milieu scolaire indépendant, expérience comme conseillère ou conseiller pédagogique, et d’encadrement d’équipes.

CONNAISSANCES

  • Capacité à exprimer les principes fondamentaux de l’éducation progressive et à décrire l’application de ces principes dans une communauté scolaire ;
  • Expertise dans les pratiques d’enseignement efficaces dans toutes les disciplines, de la maternelle à la 6e année ;
  • Compréhension des principes, des approches et des cadres de coaching pour le développement et l’évaluation des enseignantes et enseignants ;
  • Connaissance du Programme de formation de l’école québécoise (PFEQ) et de l’évaluation basée sur les compétences ;
  • Familiarité avec le cadre de conception des programmes d’études « Understanding by Design » et « Backward Design » ;
  • Atouts : Connaissance de l’intégration des technologies, de l’apprentissage visible et de l’apprentissage par projet.
