Contract Lenght: 6 monthsWork Location: Calgary, AlbertaWork Hours: 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.Server Operations AnalystSummary: The Server Operations Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and support of the organization's server infrastructure. This role works closely with the broader IT operations team to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical server systems. The Server Operations Analyst proactively identifies and resolves issues to minimize disruptions and maintain service level agreements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Monitor server performance, capacity utilization, and log data to identify potential issues or anomalies• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patching, and backups• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related problems on physical and virtual servers• Implement and test server failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans• Collaborate with network, storage, and application teams to ensure end-to-end system health• Document server configurations, change management processes, and operational procedures• Maintain server inventory records and asset management information• Analyze server and system metrics to identify optimization opportunities and make recommendations• Provide on-call support and after-hours incident response as needed Participate in the design and implementation of new server architectures and technologies• Assist in the development of server-related policies, standards, and best practicesRequired Skills and Experience:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field• 3-5 years of experience in server administration, operations, or IT support roles • In-depth knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux), and virtualization technologies• Proficient in administering and troubleshooting common enterprise server applications and services• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues• Experience with cloud operations/Azure support; Experience with system monitoring, automation, and scripting tools (e.g. PowerShell, Bash)• Understanding of network protocols, storage systems, and IT security best practices• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document procedures and collaborate with cross-functional teams• Certification in server-related technologies (e.g. Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat) is preferred• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 IT operations environment.Considered fully functional infrastructure specialist. May support one to two projects at a time. Work with IT and business clients to gather requirements for enhancements or new functionality.Develops requirements and recommendations that are appropriate for the intended audiences for both agreement and approvals - Sponsor, Champions, Stakeholders.Supports development of business cases and measures of success/outcomes as required.Works to ensure that the solution developed meets the defined requirements and expectations: includes business and IT acceptance testing.Participates in meetings and interviews as required through the whole project lifecycle, planning and execution.Maintain currency in overall industry infrastructure developments and directions.
