Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal (JCF)About the JCF: The Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal is Canada’s largest community foundation, making philanthropy easy and tax-effective. Our mission is to inspire, enable, and optimize philanthropy for the Montreal Jewish community and society at large. As a leading donor-advised fund (DAF) provider with 2,800+ clients, we are seeking a high-energy, seasoned COO. Role Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with the CFO, the COO is a core member of the executive team. This role turns strategy into execution and oversees operations (excluding finance), ensuring every client touchpoint reflects JCF’s promise of Smart Philanthropy. Key Responsibilities Client Service Excellence * Elevate donor satisfaction with consistent, thoughtful client experiences. * Strengthen service standards and stewardship to deepen relationships. * Embed responsiveness and proactive engagement across teams. Strategic Leadership * Translate strategy into clear operational plans, priorities, and owners. * Drive cross-functional alignment (Philanthropic Advisors × Marketing/Comms). * Set goals and metrics; track progress and results. Team Oversight & Collaboration * Supervise Philanthropic Advisors and Marketing/Comms; support CEO priorities. * Coordinate with external consultants and service providers. * Foster a collaborative, accountable, high-performance culture. Development * Support outreach to philanthropists, private foundations, and professional advisors (accountants, investment advisors, lawyers). * Identify opportunities for referrals and relationship growth. Operational Efficiency & Systems * Streamline workflows and reduce manual tasks through better systems and tech. * Oversee CRM/data tools for data-driven relationship management. * Remove bottlenecks and drive innovation to stay ahead of peer DAFs. Compliance, Governance & Risk * Maintain robust quality, compliance, and risk protocols. * Keep policies/procedures current with best practices and legal requirements. * Oversee data security and vendor coordination. Skills & Experience * 10+ years in operations, client service, and cross-functional leadership; experience with community foundations/DAFs an asset. * Strategic operator who executes on both long- and short-term priorities. * Proven team leadership; unifies and motivates diverse functions. * Donor stewardship and/or client relationship management experience. * High EQ, sound judgment, and strong relationship-building. * Systems-minded; detail- and process-oriented. * CRM fluency and data-informed decision-making. * Comfortable overseeing IT and data security. * Clear communicator; inclusive leader; thrives in collaborative cultures. Premier fournisseur de fonds orientés par le donateur (FOD) avec plus de 2 800 clients, nous recrutons un(e) COO énergique et expérimenté(e). Rôle Relevant de la présidente-directrice générale et en collaboration étroite avec la directrice financière, le/la COO fait partie de l’équipe de direction. Il/elle traduit la stratégie en exécution et supervise les opérations (hors finances), en veillant à ce que chaque interaction reflète la promesse de « philanthropie judicieuse » de la FCJ. Principales responsabilités Excellence du service * Accroître la satisfaction des donateurs par des expériences cohérentes et attentionnées. * Renforcer les normes de service et la gérance pour approfondir les relations. * Instaurer une culture de réactivité et d’engagement proactif. Leadership stratégique * Transformer la stratégie en plans opérationnels clairs, avec priorités et responsables. * Assurer l’alignement interfonctionnel (Conseillers en philanthropie × Marketing/Comms). * Définir objectifs et mesures; suivre les progrès et les résultats. Supervision et collaboration * Encadrer les Conseillers en philanthropie et l’équipe Marketing/Comms; soutenir les priorités de la PDG. * Coordonner les conseillers et fournisseurs externes. * Favoriser une culture performante, collaborative et responsable. Développement * Appuyer la sensibilisation auprès des philanthropes, fondations privées et conseillers professionnels (comptables, conseillers en placements, avocats). * Déceler des occasions de références et de maillage. Efficacité opérationnelle et systèmes * Optimiser les flux de travail et réduire les tâches manuelles via des systèmes/technologies adaptés. * Superviser le CRM et les outils de données pour une gestion relationnelle éclairée. * Éliminer les goulots et stimuler l’innovation pour devancer les pairs FOD.Conformité, gouvernance et risques* Maintenir des protocoles robustes de qualité, conformité et gestion des risques. * Mettre à jour politiques/procédures selon les meilleures pratiques et exigences légales. * Superviser la sécurité des données et la relation avec les fournisseurs. Compétences & profil * 10+ ans en opérations, service à la clientèle et direction interfonctionnelle; expérience avec fondation communautaire/FOD un atout. * Stratège-opérationnel(le) axé(e) sur l’exécution à court et long terme. * Leadership avéré; sait mobiliser et aligner des équipes diverses. * Expérience en gérance des donateurs et/ou gestion de la relation client. * Grande intelligence émotionnelle, jugement sûr, sens du relationnel. * Esprit systèmes/processus; souci du détail. * Maîtrise des CRM et décisions fondées sur les données. * À l’aise avec la TI et la sécurité des données. * Communication claire; leadership inclusif; esprit collaboratif.
