We are looking for a dedicated and ambitious person to lead on our government advocacy and communications work, and assist in improving member experience, with our infrastructure construction Association. Our member companies include contractors, engineers, manufacturers/suppliers, and other professionals focused on building municipal and housing-enabling infrastructure across the province.
In this role, you’ll liaise directly with member companies, provincial and municipal government representatives, and stakeholders to help address the public policy and government relations needs of our members. You’ll utilize your strong written communication skills to draft communiqués, including industry briefs, news releases, and other reports on a regular basis. You will also represent the Association in meetings with government and stakeholder groups, industry committees, local Association chapters, and internal boards across the province.
Communicating and engaging with municipal and provincial policymakers, government representatives, stakeholders, and Association members regarding key industry issues and priorities;
Monitoring and reporting on legislative/regulatory/policy activities of key provincial government departments and municipalities;
Helping to develop the provincial policy agenda and priorities as well as organize advocacy activities (e.g., Managing select internal committees, representing the Association on outward-facing committees, and establishing a reporting structure to the Board of Directors;
legislative and regulatory submissions, industry articles, social media posts, comments, letters of support, reports, etc.); You will help drive the Association’s broad goals forward. You are flexible and willing to contribute what is needed in a small office, including at the Association-hosted events. This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position working out of our Mississauga office (four-days in office, one at home each week). This position offers competitive annual salary and benefits commensurate with experience, including a comprehensive medical benefits package, three weeks of paid vacation time, and other incentives. Our office hours are flexible. Policy, advocacy, communications, public administration or public affairs experience.
Experience working in or with government.
Ability to think, plan, and execute with minimal direction and supervision.
Familiarity with current and emerging public policy trends related to infrastructure an asset.
Experience with or understanding of the role of industry in advocating for change would be an asset.
If this sounds like you and you’re ready to use your policy and government relations experience to align our strategies with our member needs, we can’t wait to hear from you.
