Sprung Studios is looking for a Prototype Engineer (ML Focus) to join its operations team in Vancouver, BC.Working alongside the Machine Learning Engineer, the Prototype Engineer (ML Focus) will play a critical role in developing and iterating on internal tools and solutions that leverage a blend of machine learning/deep learning and traditional software engineering. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will take ideas from initial concepts to working prototypes, focusing on applying cutting-edge AI/ML techniques to enhance the capabilities of our in-house applications.Who we are:Sprung is a globally recognized partner for the games industry and has worked on some of the biggest games for clients such as EA, Microsoft, Bethesda, SEGA and many more.Our Values:We make Sprung Studios a great home for people who love making games by setting a high bar for diversity and inclusion, and fostering a fair, collaborative, high-performing culture.To get there, we're driven by a few simple beliefs.We believe:that people work better when they have a healthy work/life balance (no overtime or crunch)in mental health being a primary focus for our studiothat people work better with a mixture of remote and in-person collaborationthat teams win together only when they are both diverse and inclusive.leveraging our strengths, knowing our weaknesses, and being honest about both is the best way to succeed, whether that's in the office or in a game.that work can be a place where you make lifelong friends, partner with ambitious teammates, and embrace the joy of making games.that these beliefs will help us surface the best ideas, challenge the status quo, and ultimately make better games.Key Job Responsibilities:Develop new internal tools from initial ideation to development of front-end and back-end services to support the productThis role is a mix of product responsibilities and development (ML/DL, SWE)Develop, train, and deploy language, vision, and multimodal machine learning models using Python and frameworks like PyTorchEvaluate the performance of machine learning models and refine them based on testing and feedbackManage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to efficiently deploy machine learning modelsUtilize external AI models to enhance and extend the capabilities of in-house solutionsUse AWS to deploy services and manage scalable cloud infrastructureEngage in backend development using Go or Python to support the functionality of tools and prototypesEngage in basic frontend development (TypeScript, Vue) to put your ideas before usersKey Skill and Experience:Expertise in Python, particularly with data science and machine learning libraries such as PyTorch and numpyExperience in training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning modelsProficiency in sourcing, analyzing, and working with different types of dataFamiliarity with Git for version controlExperience with AWS, especially in the architecture related to the deployment of backend services (e.g. DynamoDB, Lambda, Appsync)Knowledge of building microservices and implementing event-driven architectures.Some limited experience in frontend development using TypeScript and Vue is preferredFamiliar enough with frontend work to implement your product ideas from beginning to endAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.At least 3 years of experience in machine learning and data scienceExperience in SWESome experience in frontend web development is preferred but not mandatoryEducationBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related computational/data-oriented fieldAdditional NotesThis role is ideal for a data scientist or machine learning engineer looking to apply their deep technical skills in a dynamic business context.
